Dubai, UAE, 3 October 2018: Speaking at the Building Healthcare Innovation & Design Show, Makarem Batterjee, Vice Chairman, Middle East Healthcare Company, highlighted the role of private equity in the GCC region’s healthcare sector. “In the next one year, investments in Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector are likely to see a growth of 12.3%,” he said, attributing the anticipated growth to the rise in the population of Saudi Arabia.

Pointing to a major difference in the way healthcare sectors work in the Middle East, as compared to other countries, he said: “Unlike other nations, like America, here, we not only design our buildings but also construct and, even, operate them.” Saudi Arabia, he said, has reserved a budget of SAR 23 billion for expenditure towards the growth of the healthcare sector.
