Trane expands XStream portfolio of water-cooled chillers

The new model, eXcellent, uses the refrigerant, R-1234ze

Brussels, Belgium: Trane has announced introducing XStream eXcellent water-cooled chillers that are part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products. The model, the company said, is available with the refrigerant, Honeywell Solstice ze (R-1234ze), which has a GWP value of less than one when used in this particular design, and added that it is designed to lower the environmental impact.

With a European Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ESEER) value of 9.3 and energy efficiency rating (EER) values of 6.2, the company said that the model aims at high-efficiency operation.

The XStream eXcellent range, the company mentioned, has capacities ranging from 290 kilowatts (kW) to 2600 kW, and is suited for critical indoor environments such as a data centres, hospitals, large office buildings or industrial process applications. The new model also contains the following features, revealed the company:

  • Industry-leading efficient heat exchangers
  • Patented low charge Trane CHIL evaporator design
  • Oil-free magnetic bearings and high-speed centrifugal compressors
  • Two completely separated refrigerant circuits
  • Trane Adaptive Control with patented algorithms and multiple diagnostic capabilities

The company said that the introduction of the eXcellent range is a contribution to the commitment made by Ingersoll Rand to significantly increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact from its products and operations by 2020. The new solution, the company claimed, exceeds current F-Gas legislation requirements and helps customers reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and energy expenditures.

“Trane continues to innovate solutions that not only meet – but exceed – efficiency and environmental regulations, which creates peace of mind for customers,” said Jose La Loggia, Vice President and General Manager of Trane in Europe. “Trane now offers the most efficient water-cooled chiller available on the market. Our unique and innovative portfolio of reliable, high-efficiency solutions offers our customers choices on leading technologies that allow them to achieve environmental and sustainability goals.”
