Ziehl-Abegg recognised with MX Excellence Award for quality and innovation
KÜNZELSAU, Germany, 5 June 2025: Ziehl-Abegg announced through a Press Release that it was awarded the Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Award, presented annually by the Institute for Technology and Management at the Technical University of Berlin.
According to Ziehl-Abegg, the jury cited the company’s innovation capabilities, high degree of vertical integration and continued focus on digitalisation, sustainability and process optimisation. The MX Award, one of the most prominent industrial honours in the German-speaking region, is organised in collaboration with the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), the University of St. Gallen’s Institute of Management and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen, Ziehl-Abegg added.
Ziehl-Abegg said it received the award in the category of Quality Management. The company attributed this recognition to its integrated production processes and use of digital tools such as its Shopfloor Cockpit system and a highly automated SMD assembly line equipped with optical inspection technology.
Joachim Ley, CEO, Ziehl-Abegg, said: “This award is a powerful validation of our manufacturing strategy. We combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology – always with the goal of becoming better, more efficient, and more sustainable.”
Ziehl-Abegg reported that the jury highlighted its approach to continuous improvement and its commitment to quality. According to the company, this includes the adoption of advanced quality assurance methods, close collaboration with suppliers and a cultural focus on engaging employees at all levels. Ziehl-Abegg also stated that it upholds a zero-defect philosophy across its production sites.
“This award is something very special to me personally,” Ley added. “As COO, excellence in production has always been close to my heart. The fact that our teams bring this high standard to life fills me with pride – and gratitude.”
Ziehl-Abegg said that its work in ventilation, control and drive systems has consistently emphasised technological depth and a sustainability-focused production strategy. The company stated that the combination of these factors has enabled it to remain a benchmark within the industry.
The award was accepted by Marcus Engel, Head – Electronics Plant, Ziehl-Abegg, during a ceremony held in Berlin. Engel stated: “For us, the MX Award is not the finish line – it’s a milestone. We are committed to breaking new ground – together with our employees, our partners, and our customers.”
