Systemair introduces new Geniox counterflow AHUs with defrost technology

The company said the new models deliver up to 90% dry temperature efficiency and 20% energy savings in extreme climates
Geniox air handling unit

SKINNSKATTEBERG, Sweden, 27 October 2025: Systemair announced the expansion of its Geniox air handling unit (AHU) range with two new counterflow sizes, Geniox 22 and Geniox 24. Making the announcement through a Press Release, the company said the extended range now includes up to 30 variants with counterflow heat exchangers, delivering up to 90% dry temperature efficiency (EN308) and up to 20% additional energy savings thanks to its advanced defrost system.

Mikael Rydell

Mikael Rydell, Application Manager, AHU, Systemair, said: “Systemair’s Geniox range with counterflow heat exchangers offers the market’s best dry temperature efficiency according to EN308 – achieving up to 90% efficiency. However, optimal winter performance goes beyond efficiency. Due to narrow plate spacing, frost can form as early as -5°C, requiring a well-designed premium defrost system to minimise unnecessary energy use.”

Systemair said it addresses frost-related performance challenges with a new defrost solution that is intelligently controlled by temperature sensors pressure sensors and advanced algorithm software to deliver high energy recovery performance. Systemair said the sectional defrost method achieves up to 20% additional energy savings compared to several competitors even in extreme climates as low as -32 degrees Celsius without the need for a preheater and said all results have been independently tested and verified.

Rikard Lindbom

Rikard Lindbom, Technical Area Director, Energy Recovery, Systemair, said: “With best-in-class temperature efficiency, low pressure drops, and one of the most advanced defrost systems on the market, our Geniox counterflow units represent a new benchmark in AHU performance.”

Systemair said the Geniox range offers airflows up to 22,200 m³/h and features a fully customisable, modular design suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations. The company added that each unit is engineered for efficiency and durability to ensure low energy consumption and long-term performance.

Systemair said the units incorporate its Access Control System with wireless communication for ease of operation and include #HygienicByDesign options to meet the highest indoor air quality standards. The company said Geniox continues to deliver on its promise of flexibility energy efficiency and ease of integration and said this positions it as an AHU solution for multiple projects.
