SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins receives BSI Kitemark for BIM Level 2 certification

International accreditation demonstrates successful integration of the BIM approach into processes throughout the entire lifecycle of projects, company’s representative says

Paul Bogan, Market Director – Digital Asset Management and Operations, SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins, receives BSI Kitemark certificate from Fiona Korte, General Manager, Product Certification, and Samuael Thwaites, Commercial Manager MEA – Product Certification, in the presence of Abdulredha Abu al Hassan, Executive Director, Rail Planning and Projects Development Department, Rail Agency, RTA

Dubai, UAE, 30 November, 2018: Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, is one of the first consultants in the Middle East to receive the British Standards Institution (BSI) Kitemark for Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 certification, the company announced in a Press communiqué. The certification demonstrates successful integration of the BIM approach into processes throughout the entire lifecycle of projects, the communiqué said.

Commenting on the certification, Paul Bogan, Market Director, Digital Asset Management and Operations, SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins, said, “The Kitemark verification reinforces the capability of our people, systems and processes and provides further confidence to our clients that we’re among the best in the business.”

The Kitemark for BIM Level 2 certification helps organisations, as well as their supply chains, demonstrate that the building projects and assets are in line with the UK Government’s BIM Level 2 condition of contract, the communiqué said. This requires adopting fully collaborative 3D BIM, with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic for improved carbon performance, predictable planning and reduction in capex, risk, delivery and operational costs, the communiqué further said. It also proves that the organisation has taken necessary measures to manage the security risks that affect a built asset in whole or in part, asset data and information, the communiqué added.

Bogan added, “As one of the pioneers in BIM implementation, the technology is at the core of Atkins’ digital DNA, which forms the bedrock of our engineering and asset management services.”
