QC’s Leadership honoured at 102nd IDEA conference
Fayad Al-Khatib, CEO, Qatar Cool, and Mohannad Khader, Business Development Manager, were each presented with the Chairman’s Award during a special dinner hosted by IDEA President Rob Thornton, according to a communiqué from Qatar Cool. The awards were presented at the 102nd annual IDEA conference in Toronto, Canada, this year. Al-Khatib and Khader were attending the joint IDEA-CDEA (Canadian District Energy Association) conference.
On the occasion, Thornton, speaking on behalf of the 1,300 IDEA members, reportedly said: “Fayad and Mohannad have shown a continued commitment to the IDEA and the district cooling industry as a whole. We honour their work in expanding the industry and increasing awareness in the Middle East, one of the key regions for this unique, sustainable technology.”
On winning the award, Al Khatib said: “We are thrilled to be recognised by our peers whom we respect so much, in an industry we are passionate about. We owe it to each other to continue our efforts to garner meaningful consideration for district energy in new climate regulations.”
Honoured to receive the award, Khader added: “As an industry, it is important that we understand and contribute to adoption of energy and climate policies that recognise the importance of and potential for district energy solutions as a near-term climate strategy. We fully support Qatar’s 2030 National Vision and its Environmental Development Programme, aimed at finding harmony between economic growth, social development and environmental protection.”
