Monitoring cold storages

The Real-time Monitoring and Management Systems (RMMS) allows the user to monitor and perform diagnostics in case of an emergency

Improper food storage in conditions outside the temperature limits in a cold chain can not only result in the food getting spoilt, and thus, wasted, it could also be hazardous. Krish Saxena of Trimac Inc. explains the three kinds of cold room monitoring as seen in businesses:

  • Standalone controllers: The user has to be physically present near the controller at all times to monitor and control the temperature in the cold rooms.
  • Remote Monitoring System (RMS): Such systems allow for one-way communication, sending the user notifications and allowing remote monitoring, however, without diagnostic control.
  • Real-time Monitoring and Management Systems (RMMS): It is a two-way communication system that allows the user to monitor and perform diagnostics from across the world, with a simple smart device and an Internet connection.
