The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) has recently issued new District Cooling regulations. In the wake of this, decision-makers in the market are in the process of assessing potential impact the regulations will have on current and future projects.

“I’m just reviewing them now,” said Robert Miller, Technical Specialist, District Cooling at Marafeq. Highlighting the mood of uncertainty, he admitted that this has been a worrisome factor. He said the District Cooling sector is asking, “What are these regulations going to look like, and how will it affect our plans?”

Hessam Seifi, Mechanical Design Manager at DC PRO Engineering, on his part, said that as the regulations are very recent, the sector has not had a chance to carefully scrutinise the details. He, however, added that his company was confident regarding the critical aspects of its major projects, which, he claimed, have always showcased stringent compliance with existing standards.
