JCI says it has ABI nod of approval for its data centre cooling solutions

Company says it has been recognised as leading thermal management provider for data centres

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, USA, 10 February 2025: Johnson Controls said ABI Research has recognised it as the leading thermal management provider for data centres. Making the announcement through a Press Release, the company claimed the recognition underscores its innovation, global presence and customer-focused approach in providing energy-efficient cooling solutions for mission-critical infrastructure.

According to Johnson Controls, ABI Research has lauded it for demonstrating excellence in thermal management across various industries, particularly in data centres, where energy efficiency and reliability are critical.

Rithika Thomas, Sustainable Technologies Senior Analyst, ABI Research, said: “Johnson Controls has consistently exceeded market expectations for thermal management across all industries and is a leading player in mission-critical infrastructure, like data centers, where reliable, energy efficient and innovative building technologies are a game-changer. The company’s comprehensive and extensive portfolio, combined with its ability to deliver end-to-end solutions from design, deployment and operational support, cement its position as a leader in the space. Its success in balancing operational efficiency, sustainability and scalability is truly noteworthy.”

Johnson Controls said it offers a range of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers designed to meet the needs of hyperscale and co-location data centres. The company added that its proprietary YORK YVAM chiller is a key innovation, reducing energy consumption by up to 40% in real-world conditions. It operates with zero on-site water usage and uses ultra-low GWP refrigerant 1234ZE, the company said. Additionally, the chiller features magnetic-bearing technology for quiet operation at 65 dBA and improved reliability, as well as Quick Start technology, which enables it to return to full load within three minutes following a power interruption, the company said.

Todd Grabowski, President of Global Data Center Solutions, Johnson Controls, said: “Being recognized by ABI Research is a true honor, and it reflects our ongoing

commitment to providing innovative, scalable and consistent solutions that are tailored to individual customers and meet the ever-evolving needs of the data center industry. Our integrated approach, combining world-class products, expert support, and customized service programs, enables our customers to achieve their uptime and speed to deployment requirements while also improving performance, lowering operational costs, and meeting decarbonization goals.”
