Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Honeywell and Bayer Pearl have announced that they will be organising a workshop on the topic, “Sustainable Blowing Agent Solutions for PU Foam”, on May 17, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The workshop, said the organisers, will bring together regulators, global industry experts and regional stakeholders, to discuss key challenges and advancements in the sector, and provide a platform for all concerned to learn more about how the Kingdom will begin to phasedown imports of HCFC-141b, which will be phased out completely by 2018.

According to Honeywell and Bayer Pearl, in addition to supplying a suitable replacement for R-141b, the PU Foam industry must also meet the increasing energy efficiency standards in the country, and safely transition to energy-efficient alternatives in today’s changing scenario.

To be held against this backdrop, the workshop sessions will reportedly include discussion about non-ozone-depleting alternatives to HCFCs, technical discussions on low GWP blowing agents, such as HFC-245fa, HFO-1233zd, and the blends.

Inviting those interested in and concerned about these issues to participate in the workshop, the organisers said that it will also give them an opportunity to discuss updates on the recent policies and measures for the sector, as well as offer insights into the possible approaches for a smooth transition towards long-term alternatives to blowing agents.

The organisers have provided the following event details:
