ENGIE Refrigeration introduces COOLCARE 4.0 to increase operational efficiency

The company said the monitoring function records operating data, statuses and alarms, with results displayed in real time via a cloud interface

LINDAU, Germany, 20 November 2025: ENGIE Refrigeration announced the launch of COOLCARE 4.0, which the company described as a cloud-based service designed to enhance the monitoring and control of chillers and industrial heat pumps. Making the announcement through a Press Release, ENGIE said the service provides users with improved visibility of system performance and operational status, while maintaining data security standards.

According to ENGIE Refrigeration, the hardware required to connect to COOLCARE 4.0 is already included in its previous works in most models, including Quantum Water, Quantum Air, Spectrum Water chillers and Spectrum Water heat pumps. Older systems, the company added, can be retrofitted by its service team.

ENGIE Refrigeration said the service includes two primary functions: data monitoring and remote access. The company said the monitoring function records operating data, statuses and alarms, with results displayed in real time via a cloud interface. ENGIE Refrigeration said automatic notifications are issued if the system identifies deviations, and remote access enables authorised technicians to connect to equipment from any location to adjust settings, install software updates or troubleshoot issues. The company noted that many interventions can be completed from a distance, reducing the need for on-site visits.

ENGIE Refrigeration said that a key advantage of COOLCARE 4.0 is its smooth and secure integration into ENGIE Refrigeration’s Digital Cloud Services, for maximum transparency, efficiency and remote access. The company said this includes the collection of operational machine data – such as operating times, efficiency indicators, compressor data and alarm messages – and the transmission of these data to the cloud. Personal data is not collected, the company added. According to ENGIE Refrigeration, the platform is multi-client capable, allowing centralised management of user and group permissions, and incorporates a multi-level security concept aligned with the IEC 62443 standard.

ENGIE Refrigeration said that from a business perspective it positioned COOLCARE 4.0 as a decisive step towards the future by enabling continuous, reliable and location-independent monitoring, and that the service offers users the opportunity to increase the efficiency and availability of their chillers and heat pumps thereby enhancing operational reliability. The company added that the service underpins forthcoming offerings including remote start-up support for customers in the first six weeks after commissioning a unit.

Jochen Hornung, Managing Director, ENGIE Refrigeration, said: “Our target at ENGIE Refrigeration is to provide our customers with the best service in the cooling and heating industry. Our Digital Cloud Services with COOLCARE 4.0 are a key component of this, as we are opening up new possibilities for the intelligent and sophisticated monitoring of chillers and industrial heat pumps. We are continuously developing these services and features – and thus preparing users for the future in a targeted manner.”
