DUBAI, UAE, 5 March 2020: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has expanded its district cooling network in ‘Jumeirah Village’ by interconnecting two areas, the Jumeirah Village Circle and Jumeirah Village Triangle, with a capacity of 260,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT), serving from the utility’s six plants located in the area. Making this announcement through a Press release, Empower added that the expansion will be reinforcing the position of Empower’s network as one the most efficient globally.

The new expansion plans, Empower said, are in line with the company’s ambitious strategic and growth plans to develop an advanced district cooling infrastructure in Dubai that provides uninterrupted services. Once complete, this will increase the distribution efficiency in both the communities, which will ultimately benefit Empower customers in the area, it added.

According to the release, works are currently underway as per the plan, with the placing of a 350-metre-long new line to link the district cooling network at Jumeirah Village Circle and Jumeirah Village Triangle, deploying through a tunnel, dug 14 metres deep under the Al Khail Street using a unique technology that guarantees no physical damage to existing road infrastructure. As per the set schedule, the new network will be operational by April 2020, Empower said.
