DEWA, Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence honour sponsors of State of Green Economy Report 2016

Dubai, UAE: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence, on April 4 honoured sponsors of the State of Green Economy Report 2016.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD and CEO of DEWA, described the Report as the first published knowledge product that shares best practices, and details the policies through which the UAE aims to transform into a model of Green Economy. “This implies following the guidance of our leadership in achieving growth and development, while reaching 24% of clean energy by 2021, and minimising the ecological impact,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer underlined that the Report complements the launch of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Strategy aims at transforming Dubai into an international hub for clean renewable energy and Green Economy. The objective of the strategy, avowedly, is to save seven per cent of Dubai’s energy resources by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.

The Report offers case studies of governmental institutions and agencies to promote development and innovation of Green Economy, and highlights major topics, such as smart cities, clean energy, smart living, tourism, finance, Green Investments and Green Industry.

The Report was presented to an international audience during the World Climate Summit in Paris in December 2015.
