Atlanta, Georgia: According to a press communiqué from ASHRAE, it has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement (KFAS), outlining how the two groups will work together to promote mutual advancement in several areas of common interest.

The MoU, the communiqué revealed, was signed by Dr Bjarne Olesen, President-elect and Dr Adnan Shihab-Eldin, Director of KFAS, at the latter’s head office, in a ceremony attended by members from the ASHRAE Kuwait chapter as well as researchers from Kuwait University.

Under the agreement, the communiqué said that ASHRAE and KFAS will look for ways to work together in research, conferences and meetings, training programmes and chapter collaboration. Furthermore, it added that the organisations will explore the possibility of translating ASHRAE publications to Arabic as well as co-producing books and other publications.

The agreement, the communiqué highlighted, also encourages the participation in technical committees and teams to develop policies and standards related to energy conservation in buildings.

“KFAS is committed to supporting the progress and advancement of science and technology, so working with them is a natural fit for ASHRAE,” said Dr Olesen. “I am pleased to sign this MoU on ASHRAE’s behalf and look forward to working with KFAS.”

Dr Shihab-Eldin added, “The importance of this MoU is significant in the promotion and dissemination of research, providing opportunities to finance joint research, facilitating periodic meetings with ASHRAE, attending scientific conferences and providing expert speakers for the deployment of modern technologies.”
