Armacell introduces insulation module for BIM Revit

Manufacturer claims new module will have design engineers seeing and designing mechanical insulation in 3-D

Manufacturer claims new module will have design engineers seeing and designing mechanical insulation in 3-D

Arrmacell claims that its new Building Information Modeling (BIM) module will have design engineers seeing and designing mechanical insulation in 3-D. The module, released on October 31, allows designers and engineers who use Autodesk Revit 2012 Architecture building design software to add mechanical insulation to their designs with one simple command.

The Armacell module incorporates all the benefits that it claims have made Revit the design tool of choice for the General Services Administration (GSA), the Army Corps of Engineers, general contractors, and an increasing number of state governments. The company says these benefits include:

  • An exact, 3-D representation and visualization of mechanical insulation at the design stage
  • Capability to schedule and tag insulation products quickly and efficiently
  • Enhanced ability for collaboration between all those who are involved in the mechanical design process
  • Increased speed, accuracy, and efficiency of design process.
  • Ability to store and retrieve design content for future take-offs.

Armacell claims it has incorporated all of its popular insulating products into the design module, including:

  • AP Armaflex closed cell elastomeric foam insulation for piping components and ducts
  • AP Coilflex highly conformable, pliable elastomeric thermal ductliner
  • Tubolit flexible, closed-cell polyolefin/polyethylene pipe insulation for cost-efficient thermal insulation of domestic heating and plumbing lines
  • ArmaTuff thermal mechanical insulation with UV protection for outdoor applications
  • NH Armaflex halogen free, flexible elastomeric insulation material for marine and offshore environments
  • UT Solaflex EPDM thermal insulation for high temperature, UV-resistant and oil-resistant applications
