Samsung Electronics acquires FläktGroup in €1.5 billion deal
SUWON, South Korea, 14 May 2025: Samsung Electronics announced in a News Report that it signed an agreement to acquire 100% of FläktGroup, a global HVAC solutions provider, for €1.5 billion from Triton, a European investment firm. The company said the acquisition marks a strategic step toward accelerating its expansion in the HVAC market, particularly in the fast-growing data centre cooling segment.
Samsung Electronics stated, “Through the acquisition of FläktGroup, an applied HVAC specialist, Samsung Electronics has laid the foundation to become a leader in the global HVAC business, offering a full range of solutions to our customers.” The company added that it views HVAC as a key future growth engine.
Samsung Electronics reported that FläktGroup, headquartered in Herne, Germany, brings over 100 years of expertise and offers solutions for mission-critical buildings and infrastructure, including data centres, museums, airports and hospitals. Samsung Electronics noted that the acquisition complements its commitment to providing high-reliability, energy-efficient systems to customers globally.
The company highlighted that FläktGroup has achieved significant revenue growth in the data centre market over the past three years, driven by its liquid and air cooling solutions. These systems, according to Samsung, have helped customers reduce energy consumption and achieve sustainability targets. Samsung added that FläktGroup received the DCS Cooling Innovation of the Year Award last year.
Trevor Young, CEO, FläktGroup, said: “We are extremely pleased that FläktGroup has become a part of Samsung Electronics. FläktGroup, as a global top-tier HVAC specialist with over a century of expertise, has been relied on by global large clients for its technological and product innovations. Now, with Samsung Electronics’ global business foundation and investment, we expect to further accelerate our growth.”
Samsung Electronics noted that FläktGroup serves more than 60 major customers across industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food and beverage, and gigafactories.
Samsung Electronics stated that the HVAC sector is poised for continued growth, with increasing demand for energy-efficient, air quality-enhancing systems. The company cited market forecasts estimating that the applied HVAC market will expand from $61 billion in 2024 to $99 billion by 2030 at an annual growth rate of 8%. Samsung added that the data centre cooling segment is projected to grow at 18% annually, reflecting rising demand driven by technologies like AI, robotics and autonomous driving.
The company expects to leverage synergies between its building integration control system (b.IoT) and FläktGroup’s FläktEdge HVAC control solution. Samsung said this will support the expansion of its service and maintenance business.
Samsung Electronics has been growing its HVAC business through ductless systems and, in May 2024, entered into a joint venture with Lennox International Inc. to bolster its presence in North America.
The company confirmed that the transaction is expected to close within 2025.
