Kuwait, 6 September 2023: WEG has announced that it has won a contract to supply a fleet of W22 motors to upgrade the air-handling units at the Al Adan Hospital, the main public general hospital in  Al Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait. Making the announcement through a Press release, WEG said it supplied W22 motors for the project, starting from 1.5KW to 75KW, and the motors are designed to offer not only lower energy consumption but lower noise and vibration, higher reliability, easier maintenance and lower cost of ownership. The company further said the motor frame is designed from cast iron to provide high levels of mechanical strength to cater for the most critical applications — such as HVAC systems.

With tough commercial targets and delivery requirements, the release said, WEG’s Middle East branch was up to the challenge of supplying motors in the hospital’s air conditioning units. The release further said these units depended on SKM fans and chiller units fitted with WEG motors.

Furthermore, Kumar said, WEG worked closely with SKM Air Conditioning LLC and the contractor during the tender stage to ensure all technical details were correct and met the customers’ specifications. The system, he added, needed to be robust, reliable and powerful enough to heat and cool the hospital without needlessly wasting energy. 

WEG also said the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units play a significant role in ensuring every space in the clinical and non-clinical departments in the hospital are the correct temperature and are ventilated in line with safety guidelines. WEG further said this is essential to ensure the most vulnerable patients are protected from airborne illnesses and that temperatures around the building are maintained to guarantee that sensitive medical equipment does not malfunction.
