Dubai, UAE: In recent months, businesses have raised concerns about the misrepresentation of product certifications in the HVACR industry. Hassan Younes, Director at Griffin Project Development Consultants, explains the reasons behind the situation and how the MEP consultancy community can address the issue.

Younes attributes the cause to “unrealistic timelines” set by the client. As consultants are required to complete a project within a specified time frame, some may decide to bypass due diligence measures. “The second reason,” he says, “is un-informed consultants, who would copy and paste from other projects without looking into the specific need of the project at hand. We do a lot of design reviews, and the number of mistakes we find is alarming.”

Elaborating further on the culture of “copy-pasting” conceptual designs, Younes says that as every project is different and has its own requirements, the concept should be tailored to suit the project. He remarks, “Copying and pasting is obviously not delivering the goals of projects,” before adding, Get the concept right, and your goals are 80% achieved.”
