ISHRAE Thane Chapter to organise full day workshop on refrigerants

The workshop, the announcement revealed, will provide an understanding of the technicians’ HVACR responsibilities when designing, installing or maintaining various refrigeration or air conditioning systems that are charged with refrigerants.

Thane, Maharashtra, India: Along with the Mumbai Chapter, and with the support of ASHRAE and the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Trades Association (RATA),  Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) Thane Chapter has announced that it will be organising a full day ‘Technical Workshop on Understanding Refrigerants’. The programme, the announcement said, is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Hotel United 21 in Thane West.

The workshop, the announcement revealed, will provide an understanding of the HVACR responsibilities of technicians, and how they can improve their own safety – and the safety of occupants – when designing, installing or maintaining various refrigeration or air conditioning systems that are charged with refrigerants. It added that the workshop will benefit manufacturers, contractors, consultants and maintenance and service professionals.

The announcement informed the following topics that will be covered during the programme: History, nomenclature, safety classification, contaminants and their impact on system safety, usage and handling of refrigerants and regulations, blends, retrofit, new and future refrigerants, low-GWP HFCs and HCFCs.

The announcement said that the Speaker for the programme is Kapil Singhal, the member of Refrigerants Technical Committee of ASHRAE and ISHRAE. A mechanical engineer, with a postgraduate diploma in business administration, Singhal, the announcement said, has an experience of 18 years in the HVAC industry. He is said to have been involved in the introduction of alternate products and technologies in the place of ozone-depleting substances in India, which include refrigerants, clean-agent fire suppressants and foam expansion agents.
