Dubai, UAE: According to an official communiqué from Empower, a delegation led by H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Empower, and comprising other delegates from various departments, such as sales and marketing, operations and maintenance and finance and business support, is participating in the International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference and Trade Show — ‘IDEA 2016: embracing change’ — that is being held from June 20 to 23, in Saint Paul, United States.

Bin Shafar, the communiqué informed, who is a member of the IDEA Board of Directors and reportedly the first Emirati Arab member since 2013, will be attending the IDEA Board of Directors Meeting. The communiqué added that his membership has been renewed in 2016 for another three-year term, until 2019.

The annual event, the communiqué highlighted, brings together global energy experts, business leaders and decision-makers to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of District Cooling, combined cooling solutions and power distribution systems for cities and communities.

Bin Shafar, the company revealed, will participate in the opening panel discussion entitled ‘embracing change’, along other global energy leaders. The company also mentioned that its delegation will participate in sessions about smart metering logic in sustaining energy and how to control, eliminate failures and increase efficiency of GRP pipe networks.

Empower said that it will highlight its efforts to transfer District Cooling technologies to Asian and African countries, including China and India, as part of its cooperation with UNEP. Its efforts in adopting environmental initiatives on conserving energy consumption as well as exchanging ideas and best practices to enhance energy efficiency will also be mentioned during the conference, added Empower.

“District Cooling services have become environmentally and economically viable solutions for developing cities due to its efficiency in operation and maintenance and energy conservation,” said Bin Shafar. “We, at Empower, were part of IDEA conference since the company’s inception and our mandate reflects the theme of this year’s agenda of transferring knowledge and increasing collaboration to protect the environment and increase sustainability, which, in turn, will help in achieving better results for the advancement of energy efficiency in the world.”

Commenting on the Board of Directors Meeting, Bin Shafar said that it was a “good chance” to put forward Empower’s “capabilities and futuristic vision on the table of discussion with international peers in the field of District Cooling”. He added, “In the meeting, we will highlight our contribution to the transfer of such technology to developing countries that need them, as well as we reviewed major benefits achieved by this innovative technology.”
