Abu Dhabi, UAE: Daikin has announced that it has received the Abu Dhabi Trustmark for Environmental Performance certification for its high-ambient R-32 split air conditioner with inverter technology, at a ceremony at the Abu Dhabi Quality & Conformity Council (QCC).

The units, the company claimed, built in Daikin’s Thailand factories, offer the best nominal and seasonal efficiencies, in line with real-life Middle East operating conditions. They can achieve a high Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) (Btu/kWh) in cooling of up to 13.3 at T1 conditions (35°C) and up to 8.6 at T3 conditions (46°C), exceeding the most stringent regulations of the region, the company further claimed.

Daikin added that the system’s compressor, designed for tropical regions, is capable of operating fully in extreme weather conditions of at least 52°C and delivering a powerful year-round cooling performance, regardless of the outside temperature, and is up to 1.5 times faster than traditional systems.

Revealing the characteristics of R-32, Daikin said that it is a chlorine-free, single-component refrigerant with a global warming potential of about one-third compared to the more commonly used refrigerant R-410A, and requires up to 15% less refrigerant compared to an equivalent air conditioner system with R-410A.

Ryoji Sano, President of Daikin Middle East and Africa, said, “Daikin is proud to receive the Abu Dhabi Trustmark for Environmental Performance for its high efficiency inverter-driven split system using the low global warming potential R-32 refrigerant, designed for the high-ambient conditions in the region.”

Daikin added that the product had received ESMA and SASO certifications in 2015.

QCC, which is responsible for developing quality infrastructure and raising awareness on quality standards in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, used the ceremony to unveil its Unitary Air Conditioners Certification Scheme, which defines minimum energy performance standards and technical requirements for unitary air conditioners used across villas, apartment buildings and office buildings in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Helal Al Balooshi, Director of Marketing & Communications at QCC, said, “We launched the Unitary Air Conditioners Certification Scheme as part of our priority to promote the use of safe, high-quality and energy-efficiency air conditioning equipment with zero impact on the ozone layer and minimal power consumption.”
