Intertek awarded at International Customs Day

Company receives Certificate of Merit and Customs Knight honour

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Intertek, an industry quality solutions provider, has announced receiving dual recognition from the World Customs Organisation and Saudi Customs, during the International Customs Day held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, the announcement said, was organised to discuss the topic, “Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement”.

Giving details of the awards, Intertek said that it was awarded the Certificate of Merit for its services to the international customs community, and received the Customs Knight award for its Government and Trade services and for efforts in supporting, integrating and developing the digital customs vision. The vision, the company said, was aimed at driving easier, faster and more transparent customs clearance, and comprised digitisation of conformity certifications, inspection reports and has a single-window data integration system.

On receiving the award from H.E. Saleh MS Al-Khaliwi, Director General of Saudi Customs and H.E. Sulaiman Al Twijri Deputy Director of Customs Affairs, Husny Saeed, General Manager, Governments & Trade Services Middle East at Intertek, said that the company was “honoured” to receive the dual recognition, and added: “Intertek supports Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to quality and safety across all industries. We have worked with the Saudi Customs in its ongoing efforts to increase efficiencies and lower trade costs for the benefit of Saudi businesses. The country adopts best-in-class global policies for quality and conformity to improve the quality of life of its citizens, while fighting and reducing counterfeits.”

Intertek revealed that it has been working to develop a digital conformity certification clearance system, and had held a workshop on the subject for the Saudi Customs personnel, which included activities around the digital verification and originality of certificates.
