US testing association approves German manufacturer’s data measurements on energy-saving EC fans
Kuenzelsau, Germany, 2 October, 2018: AMCA, has endorsed the German manufacturer Ziehl-Abegg’s data on air performance and energy consumption for energy-saving EC fans, the company announced in a Press communiqué. The company operates the world’s largest combined test chamber for fans, at its headquarters in Germany, the communiqué said.
Peter Fenkl, Chief Executive, Ziehl-Abegg, said, “This is a tribute to our long-term commitment to the reliability and accuracy of measurement data.” The company produces fans made of steel, aluminium and plastic, the communiqué said. The modern energy-saving fans are powered by external rotor motors with integrated control electronics, and the external rotor technology was developed by the founder of the company, Emil Ziehl, the communiqué further said.
Fenkl explained, “When EC fans are installed by our customers, they must be able to have total confidence in the quoted measurement values.” In many installation situations the individual measurement values for EC motors and ventilators can no longer be measured, as they become lost in the overall system. “This is why we have been operating the world’s largest combined measurement and test chamber for fans in Künzelsau, since 2008,” Fenkl said.
Mirco Herrmann, Managing Director, Ziehl-Abegg USA, said the certification also applies to EC products made in the United States. He said, “This means we can promote this new certification along with the already existing certification for our AC products in the United States, where everyone is familiar with AMCA.”
