United States: The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) has announced that it is hosting a session on Net Zero Buildings at the 2016 Business & Climate Summit, an annual forum for international businesses and policymakers to meet in support of enhanced action on climate change.

The Summit, the announcement said, is taking place on June 28 and 29, and will see 1,000 global CEOs, investors and politicians gather at London’s Guildhall to set out how business can and must take advantage of a swift transition to a climate-resilient, low-carbon economy.

The announcement revealed that WorldGBC is hosting a parallel session – Built Environment: Getting to Net Zero – looking at how global Green Building corporate leaders are already demonstrating that Net Zero is achievable at a building and district scale. The session, the council explained, will explore the specific Net Zero — even Net Positive — building strategies that are being implemented from Dubai and Singapore to France and Africa.

WorldGBC revealed that Mike Chaldecott, CEO for Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland, and Ibrahim Al-Zu’bi, Head of Sustainability at Majid Al Futtaim, are confirmed speakers at the session on June 28. Both Saint-Gobain and Majid Al Futtaim are members of WorldGBC’s Corporate Advisory Board, it added.

Other key speakers at the Summit include Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC; Rachel Kyte, CEO, SE4ALL and Hakima El Haite, Minister of Energy, Mining, Water and Environment of Morocco, said the announcement.

WorldGBC informed that the event will be live streamed and more details are available on its website.
