WGEO launches platform to mobilise green investment

UAE-based World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) has launched a financial sector platform with the aim to mobilise investments for energy efficiency initiatives and programmes.

A delegation from WGEO, led by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of WGEO, was in Beijing for the official launch of the platform.

Al Tayer said: “WGEO’s Financial Sector Platform will serve as a global forum to help raise sustainable finance, provide public and market leadership on green finance and promote UAE’s position as a leading global centre for the provision of green financial and professional services.

“Over the past few years, green finance is making rapid strides and gaining bigger momentum. Following the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and the Paris Climate Agreement, the whole world has committed to concrete and practical steps to deliver a low carbon and green economy.”
