Dubai, UAE, 15 April 2018: The University of Birmingham is set to host “A Cool World: 1st International Congress on Clean Cooling” from April 18 to 19, which aims to bring together stakeholders from the global community for a public debate on challenges and potential impact of clean cooling. “Clean cooling,” said Toby Peters, Professor in Cold Economy at the University of Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, “is a global challenge. If we are going to solve it, we need to bring together technology, finance and regulation. It’s about big-picture challenges and working as a community to understand how best to solve this. A report will be made urgently on public recommendations and outcomes.”

Peters said he hopes the conference will turn into a global annual event and looks to the possibility of holding the next edition in Dubai. The University of Birmingham, Peters said, identified cooling as vital in the context of the global energy debate. “In the UK, we think about heat,” he said. “When you look at the rest of the world, economic, population and demographic growth happens in hot countries, which need cooling.” In looking at energy, climate and environmental challenges, he said, cooling is front and centre.
