Dubai, UAE, 1 November 2018: Speaking on the importance of temperature monitoring in meeting the objectives of Dubai Municipality’s Food Watch programme, T Santosh, Technical Engineer, R.A.J. Tech, highlighted his company’s cold chain monitoring solutions during its participation at the 12th Dubai International Food Safety Conference. The comprehensive cold chain monitoring system, Santosh said, generates records of the temperature of the cold room, hard cabinet, food and meat processing, as well as the cooked food, prior to serving as required, in line with HACCP checks, on the cloud, analysing critical control points. It also monitors humidity, battery level, sensors and driver activity. He said, “We give some KPIs that can easily synchronise with the Dubai Municipality supporter,” so users can directly interact with the Food Watch panel.

Santosh said the company’s solutions have been named “future-proof technology” because of its LoRa features, which he described as vital in the Smart City concept being promoted in the United Arab Emirates. “Without an internet connection, you can use the network,” he explained, as it is a sensor-based network, allowing direct communication without internet data consumption. “Everything can be monitored,” he said. “Every car here has a GPS, but it’s a combined solution for the temperature as well as the GPS that makes it a future-proof technology.”

Santosh said that the company is vigilant when it comes to analysing food trends, complaints of the municipality and new regulations to tailor the products, according to the needs of the market. Currently, Santosh said, the company is supplying to catering companies and chiller trucks and they see a lot of opportunities owing to EXPO 2020, which will enhance demand for food distribution channels.

Santosh said that stakeholders in the food industry have greater awareness with regard to investing in monitoring solutions to help secure the cold chain, in a bid to reduce spoilage, food loss and guard against food poisoning. “It’s about preventive action,” he said. As for the additional cost, Santosh added, the company’s move to manufacture products in the United Arab Emirates helps their solutions be cost competitive with their counterparts, without sacrificing the quality or value of the products.
