New Jersey, USA, 5 March 2019: “A number of HVAC contractors have their own price objection and assume that home-owners won’t pay for zoning,” said Dick Foster, Owner, ZoneFirst, highlighting how HVAC contractors are reluctant to sell zoning systems in the USA.

“Actually, homeowners want the added comfort and energy savings that zoning has to offer. The challenges arise because the price factor is in the mind of the seller and not the buyer,” Foster said. “The contractors fear and often do not even talk about zoning. As a result, they miss out on the opportunity to differentiate themselves from their competitors,” he said. Elaborating on how zoning consists of four per cent of the market, he said, “People are aware of the solution and the contractor’s reluctance to sell also has an influence.” Pointing to the rate of adoption of the technology in America, he said, “When compared to annual shipments of unitary heating and cooling systems, zoning systems are less than five per cent of HAVC shipments.”

Commenting on the emerging trends within the HVAC market in the United States, Foster said, “The trend, today, is for many systems to be remotely controlled via applications and for users to monitor feedback information for energy savings.”
