SAS International supplied acoustic metal ceilings for the structure

SAS International, a British manufacturer of interior fit-out products, has announced that it has supplied over 40,000 m2 of acoustic metal ceilings for the new Tour Carpe Diem in Paris, France, which has recently received Platinum certification under the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Core & Shell (CS) Rating System. The 40-storey building is now the first Platinum-certified LEED Core & Shell high-rise building in France, the announcement added.

SAS International gave details of the Tour Carpe Diem structure: Designed by New York-based architects Robert AM Stern, the building is situated in La Defense, one of the major business districts of Paris, with 30 office floors offering 1,300 m2 of column-free space configured to maximise light and views, and significantly exceeds French HQE regulations for environmentally responsible development. The building’s triple-glazed curtain wall reportedly incorporates sunshades that respond to the solar orientation of each facade, and grilles that provide natural ventilation. Additional sustainable design strategies include solar water heating, a heat recovery system, and high-performance lighting.

Highlighting the quality of its product, SAS International claimed that the acoustic metal ceiling systems manufactured by it have a lifespan of more than 25 years, and can be recycled into new virgin steel without any loss of properties at the end of their life, and can count towards accreditation, such as LEED environmental credits.
