Contract awarded to Dubai’s Al Ghurair Contracting and Engineering Works
Dubai, UAE: According to information available on the Dubai Media Office website, Nakheel has announced handing over a construction contract worth AED 136 million to Al Ghurair Contracting and Engineering Works for its second hotel at Dragon City, in Dubai.
With a total project value of AED 176 million, the company said that the 304-room Premier Inn is part of a new master plan that aims to transform Dragon City into a giant retail, residential and recreational complex of more than 11 million square feet.
Set for delivery in 2019, Premier Inn Dragon City, the company revealed, will have a restaurant, Costa coffee shop and gym, with the hotel built up-area spreading across 178,000 square feet, over eight floors.
Premier Inn Dragon City is one of two Nakheel hotels managed by the United Kingdom’s Premier Inn, with the first, a 372-room hotel at Ibn Battuta Mall, being opened last October.
Nakheel said that its expanding Dragon City mixed-use community comprises four million square foot of retail space, a twin-tower residential complex with 1,120 apartments and two hotels with 516 rooms between them. Dragon City’s retail expansion includes a 375,000 square foot showroom complex, currently under construction, added the company.
