MEP consultancy versus general consultancy

Dr Marcus George, the CEO of UAE-based Engineering Consortium Consulting Engineers (ECCE), shares his opinion on having in-house MEP consultants
Dubai, UAE: Several experts from the industry have highlighted the importance of having specialised MEP consultancy and MEP contractors. They have stressed the roles of experts in building design to achieve sustainability. However, Dr Marcus George, the CEO of UAE-based Engineering Consortium Consulting Engineers (ECCE), believes that general consultancy is more beneficial than specialised MEP consultancy, and there is no need for specialised, independent MEP firms. He says that having a comprehensive in-house team allows for a “collaborative approach to designing a project”. According to Dr George, working with an in-house team allows for unparalleled coordination, saving time and reduces the occurrence of mistakes that could affect project development. Furthermore, this approach, in his opinion allows companies “to speedily and smoothly acquire all municipality and civil defence approvals and also NOCs from all other related authorities”.
