The IoT market in fire protection is fast-paced, says Head of Systems Operations, Martech Services
Dubai, UAE, 13 December 2018: In the USA, the adoption and acceptance rate for technology in fire safety is slow, said Hilton Earl Campbell, Head of Systems Operations, Martech Services, during a conversation at the Conference on Safety Design in Buildings, held on December 11, in Abu Dhabi. However, he said, the new generation is more attentive to IoT and it’s just a matter of time before we see technology being adopted in all aspects of life. “In the Middle East, we provide IoT-based solutions for smoke detection and overall fire safety in buildings,” Campbell said. A latest in technology, he said, is the remote fire alarm system, which is popular.
Elaborating on end-user demand, Campbell said, “It all depends on the region and what is readily available there.” And if there’s one difference between the Middle East and the USA, he said, it is that most of the technology in IoT-powered sensors has been tried and tested. For instance, he said, “The Middle East is still trying out new technology for a few months, before it is put to use or adopted.” Overall, he said, the market has to keep up with the demand for new technology, as it is fast-paced. He added, “What was relevant and in demand a few months ago, might not be relevant today.”
