Dubai, UAE, 5 June 2023: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) announced its participation in the IDEA 2023 Conference and Trade Show, which kicks off today, in Chicago, in the United States. Organised by the International District Energy Association (IDEA), the event, running the course of four days, has ‘Empowering the Next Generation’ as its slogan, Empower said through a Press release. According to Empower, the event is set to host dozens of delegations from government and private sectors and hundreds of experts from over 30 countries.

Empower said its participation in this year’s version is distinguished and distinct as a Diamond Sponsor, which is the first of its kind for a company in the Middle East. Empower said its delegation to the Conference is headed by H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower; Chairman, Dubai’s District Cooling Operators Association; and Member Emeritus, Board of Directors of the IDEA – a position that Bin Shafar occupies as the first Emirati Arab member since 2013 – and includes a group of Empower’s directors and managers, who will review the company’s experience and achievements in District Cooling in Dubai and its global leadership, as well as share with their counterparts the company’s rich experience and professionalism in the District Cooling industry.

Empower said H.E. Bin Shafar is one of the keynote speakers in the opening panel discussion of the conference, in which he will discuss various significant topics related to the sector and highlight Empower’s achievements in District Cooling in Dubai. Additionally, H.E Bin Shafar will share the company’s experiences as a leading player in the environmentally friendly District Cooling industry, emphasising the importance of investing in District Cooling systems and infrastructure to facilitate the transition towards a low-carbon future, Empower said. Furthermore, the delegation will present a paper at the conference on the metrics for thermal energy storage (TES) tanks in District Cooling, Empower said.

The District Cooling utility provider said its support for the international event aims at deepening cooperation with the IDEA and expanding its global role in spreading the culture of District Cooling, as well as strengthening Empower’s role in achieving the strategic goals and initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development through the most effective smart District Cooling systems.
