Fortum says the solution will help residents monitor and control lighting, appliances, electrical devices, among others.
Espoo, Finland: Clean energy company, Fortum and Sweden-based residential development company, Bonava have started commercial collaboration on solutions for smart living in Sweden, according to a press release issued by Fortum.
A solution is being developed for residents of apartment flats and single-family homes, which, the press release said, is expected to be installation-ready by the end of the year. The press release added that the collaboration originated with the Smart Energy pilot project in Stockholm Royal Seaport, where Bonava is one of the area’s housing developers and Fortum is the energy partner in the pilot project.
With a display in a smart home, residents, the press release revealed, can monitor and control the consumption of water, energy and heat, as well as control lighting, appliances and electrical devices. Furthermore, the system incorporates security, fire and water damage alarms. Residents can manage and control their home either via a separate display or through their own cell phone, added the press release.
Fortum informed that installation of the solutions in new Bonava homes will begin during the last quarter of the 2017. According to Bonava’s plans, all new Bonava homes in Sweden will feature smart living solutions within five years.
“In the future energy system, energy production is increasingly dependent on weather conditions,” said Rami Piik, VP, Smart Home Solutions, Fortum. “It is important that energy consumption can be shifted to those hours when there is an abundance of production. With the solution currently under development, the energy consumption of residents can be adjusted easily and without compromising living comfort.”
Piik added: “The purpose of smart living solutions is to create comfortable homes that make it easy for residents to live sustainable lifestyles. By visualising, analysing and optimising consumption, residents can save up to 20% in their own energy consumption.”
