Wilsonville, Oregon: Claiming that it is the world’s first thermal imaging clamp meter, FLIR Systems, dealing in the design, manufacture and marketing of sensor systems, has announced introducing FLIR CM174 Imaging Clamp Meter with IGM (Infrared Guided Measurement) in Europe.

Listing some of its features, the company revealed that the CM174 600A AC/DC Clamp Meter has a built-in thermal camera that powers FLIR’s IGM technology, which visually guides users to temperature differences and pinpoints anomalies, allowing users to fix the system, not just the fault, to get the equipment up and running. This, the company said, also lets electricians find new issues, thus expanding their scope of work, resulting in more business.

Elucidating further, the company said that if electricians face cluttered wires or when scanning complex panels for hazards, they can stay at a safe distance and use IGM to show them the anomalies without reaching into the panel.

FLIR highlighted that the narrow-jaw design and built-in work lights make it easier to clamp the meter around wires in tight spaces and in poor lighting conditions. The meter, the manufacturer added, validates findings with advanced measurement features to help solve the most complex electrical issues, and is vital for checking repairs and ensuring that problem areas have returned to normal.
