Date & Time: 6-7 March, 2025
Location: New York City, New York, U.S.A.

Overview

The lessons from COVID-19, along with specific HVAC-related policies, standards, and design and technological strategies that need to be adopted and sustained to protect against future pandemics, form the core discussion topics of the 7th edition of the World IEQ Forum.

This long-standing conference has gained significant importance since the pandemic exposed how unprepared entire cities were to prevent the spread of disease. The tragic outcomes were the result of shortcomings on multiple fronts – policy, occupant behaviour, weak financial models (project development, FM), failure to fully harness cutting-edge technologies (installation, commissioning, continuous monitoring and O&M), and inadequate integrated project development mechanisms.

A key objective of the Forum is to explore climate-friendly, lasting solutions to the demand for clean and safe air. How can we balance the need to combat the ongoing climate crisis with the growing demand for a healthy built environment? The Forum will also host a showcase of the latest technological solutions and services, capable of driving transformation for the better in the built environment.

Format

The 7th edition of the World IEQ Forum is as much an opportunity for presentations and panel discussions as it is for structured audience interactions with the objective of harvesting insights and implementable recommendations.

Key Topics

  • Regulation update, policies, building codes
  • ASHRAE Standard 241
  • Commissioning, re-commissioning and retro-commissioning
  • Physician perspectives: Addressing areas of disconnect between architecture & building services engineering, on one side, and the science on viruses and infection control in healthcare, hospitality, education and other settings, on the other side
  • Pharmaceutical cleanrooms and laboratories: Design, construction and equipment-installation considerations in ensuring optimum Relative Humidity, pressurization, air flow and thermal comfort
  • Profiles in IAQ strategy and implementation across schools – overcoming structure-related and other challenges in Existing Buildings in protecting students and ensuring disruption-free education schedules
  • Transforming heritage buildings into safer buildings – not losing sight of the need for preserving vintage value in the quest for better IAQ
  • Building tracing: Policy, technology, broad implementation methodology, building-level standard operating procedures and budgeting
  • Monitoring efficacy of IAQ interventions: Metrics and granular analysis
  • Particle characterisation, and choice of right filter media and overall appropriate filtration strategies
  • Saving energy and, at the same time, protecting lives: Cutting-edge technologies for improving energy efficiency, addressing energy losses
  • Progress Report on air purification devices: Clearing the air in view of recent reports questioning effectiveness, safety
