Overview
THE 11th Edition of The Climate Control Conference comes at a pivotal time for Saudi Arabia, with Vision 2030 in full force and the urgent need for sustainable, energy-efficient and resilient building technologies that also promote strong Indoor Air Quality for better health & wellbeing outcomes.
As per tradition, this year’s edition, to be held in Riyadh – Saudi Arabia, will be an eclectic, purposeful and action driven platform, designed to align stakeholders with clearly defined objectives and measurable outcomes.
The conference will dive into four distinct, interconnected segments:
- The energy efficiency – Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) nexus
Low-hanging-fruit solutions - Heat Pumps and Direct Expansion (DX) systems
- Refrigerants (the transition to more climate-friendly and safe options for high-ambient conditions)
The conference will aim to spark deep conversations, unveil field-tested solutions, and drive home the need for an immediate, pragmatic approach to building better-performing, healthier and more sustainable structures across the length and breadth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Format
The conference includes a traditional mix of policy and regulation-related addresses, techno-commercial presentations, case study presentations, panel discussions, and focused and structured audience interactions to receive the maximum possible information from energy policymakers in the planning, energy, environment and Renewable Energy sectors; master developers; developers; Building Owner Associations; general & MEP consultants; general & MEP contractors; sectoral end-users (healthcare, hospitality, aviation, education, retail, etc.); manufacturers; suppliers; and O&M and other specialised District Cooling service providers.
Exhibition Track
Focus:
- Practical low-hanging-fruit solutions
- IAQ monitoring and filtration technologies
- High-efficiency heat pumps and DX systems for Saudi Arabia’s climate
- Sustainable refrigerant technologies and management tools
- Duct leakage control demonstrations
Strategies:
- Live demonstrations booths: Showcase smoke testing, blower door tests, and duct-sealing solutions
- Energy loss visualisation zones: Real-time demonstrations of how energy is lost through building leaks
- Solution Pavilions: Group solutions for clarity — air-leakage solutions, IAQ technologies, high efficiency cooling | Guided Walkthroughs during coffee and lunch breaks
- Innovation Spotlight Tours: Guided VIP tours to booths highlighting breakthrough solutions
Key Topics
SEGMENT 1: THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY – IAQ NEXUS
Key themes:
- How can we improve IAQ without compromising building energy performance?
- The Future of BMS (Building Management Systems): Smarter HVAC, predictive maintenance, real-time energy usage tracking.
- Integration of high-efficiency filtration, ventilation control and demand-control ventilation systems.
- Demand-control ventilation: Optimising outdoor air intake based on real-time occupancy and CO2 levels.
- and more …
SEGMENT 2: LOW-HANGING-FRUIT SOLUTIONS
Key themes:
- Evaporative cooling: Opportunities and challenges in Saudi conditions.
- Fixing leaky ducting systems: Hidden energy drains that must be addressed; quantifying money and energy waste: Making invisible losses visible to stakeholders. Are low-cost retrofits (like fixing leaky ducting systems) at all considered during building audits in Saudi Arabia today?
- Live demonstrations: Field sessions to show real-world air leakage and remedies (smoke tests, etc.).
- Air Curtains: Preventing unwanted heat gain.
- and more …
SEGMENT 3: HEAT PUMPS AND DX SYSTEMS
Key themes:
- Extent of deployment in Saudi Arabia: Status check and lessons learnt.
- Innovations needed for high-ambient conditions: Adaptations in system design and operations.
- Direct Expansion (DX) systems: Current capabilities, advancements and challenges.
- and more …
SEGMENT 4: REFRIGERANTS TRANSITION AND REFRIGERANT MANAGEMENT
Key themes:
- Transition to Low-GWP refrigerants: Challenges and opportunities for high-ambient zones.
- Current regulatory framework and the roadmap ahead.
- Managing Scope 1 (leakage) and Scope 2 (energy use) emissions.
- and more …
