Association says events will discuss technical developments and capacity building
DUBAI, UAE, 29 November 2023: Eurovent Middle East announced that it was invited by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to organise two side events during COP28 in Dubai from November 30 to December 12. Making the announcement through a Press release, Euorvent said, the side events will consist of a roundtable on technical developments in cooling for hot ambient temperature countries as well as a panel discussion on certification aspects and capacity building.
According to Eurovent, cooling demand is soaring globally, even more so in environments with high ambient temperatures. The Association added that rising living standards in developing countries are one major factor, but rising temperatures will also turn more countries into high ambient temperature environments. Extreme temperatures and increased cooling demand resulting in increased greenhouse gas emissions are a vicious cycle, Eurovent further said.
Markus Lattner, Managing Director, Eurovent Middle East, said: “It is essential to understand the needs and requirements for a technical transition, also in regard to low GWP refrigerants, towards lower emissions in the HVACR sector. We will look at projects that significantly reduce emissions, discuss potential and shortcomings in regulatory environments, and address the technical skills and training required. Change needs educated people.”
Eurovent further said that technology is only one part of a wider value chain, and the most efficient product will only deliver its designed performance if used, installed, operated, and maintained correctly. Furthermore, the Association said that new technologies, connectivity, smart components, and alternative refrigerants require new knowledge and skills to be used efficiently. Eurovent added that experts will discuss what other kinds of certification besides existing product certification schemes need to be considered within the side events.
According to Eurovent, the side events are scheduled as follows:
Eurovent added that both events will take place at the Montreal Protocol Advancing Climate Action Pavilion (Ozone Cool Zone).
