DUBAI, UAE, 27 August 2020: With knowledge on the COVID-19 pandemic constantly evolving, Eurovent Middle East said it will be conducting a two-part webinar, on September 9 and September 16, to take a closer look at ventilation aspects essential for the safe and continued use of built infrastructure. The twin events will cover a range of topics, including hygienic air-handling units (AHUs), energy recovery and air recirculation, condition-based monitoring and drives, Eurovent said through a Press release, adding that they are designed for engineers, service providers and building operators alike.

According to the release, two of the world’s leading engineering associations, the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Associations (REHVA), along with a growing number of other organisations have issued guidance on how to approach risk mitigation in the built-environment, accounting for the potential of airborne transmission of the disease. While shutting down air recirculation is an option in cooler climatic zones, it creates several issues in hot climates – from exorbitant increases in energy bills to overloading of cooling systems, Eurovent said.

The first part of the webinar, Eurovent said, will focus on hygienic AHUs, energy recovery and air filtration, while the second part will take a closer look at AHUs, drives and controls from a technical standpoint.

According to the release, the specific topics are:

• Airborne Pathogens and Ventilation: Importance of ventilation, air filtration and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
• Hygienic Air-Handling Units: Definition, standards and certification
• Recirculation and the Role of Energy Recovery
• Air Filtration Recommendations
• Condition-based Monitoring Drives and Motors
