Eurovent initiates new AHU certification programme

Eurovent Certita Certification offers hygienic option to improve air quality

Paris, France: Eurovent has announced launching a three-level hygienic option for the Eurovent Certified Performance (ECP) programme for air-handling units (AHUs).

The certification programme is an option for the existing Certita Certification programme for AHUs, the announcement said, and is aimed to guaranty good air quality of an AHU, by checking key hygienic factors, such as maintenance, materials durability and component performance.

Giving details, Eurovent said that the certification programme includes requirements related to hygienic standards on manufacturing, shipment, materials (compliance with European standards), maintenance, casing performance, component arrangement and performance of filters, coils, heat recovery systems, fans, humidifiers, dehumidifiers and silencers. Through yearly audits, the option also reportedly certifies the capability of a manufacturer to produce hygienic units.

Eurovent added that a clear list of requirements will certify an AHU as hygienic and suitable for different applications, such as offices, commercial buildings, schools and hotels (one-star rating), hospitals (two-star rating) and pharmaceutical units, food processes and white rooms (three-star rating)

According to Eurovent, to take the hygienic option, a manufacturer will first need to be a participant of the ECP AHU programme.
