Professionals get overview of markets, technologies and components

The European Heat Pump Summit 2013, supported by Chillventa, held in Nürnberg from October 15 to 16, attracted 250 international congress participants, sourced information on current questions concerning the status quo and the future of heat pumps at presentations given by well-known speakers from Germany and abroad, the organisers revealed in a post-event news release.

According to the organisers, the key themes of the summit were innovative approaches to technical solutions, possible applications, market analyses and the challenges and opportunities resulting from the political framework like the F-Gas Regulation and the EU Ecodesign Directive. The summit also reportedly focused on the components, which played a special role this year. The highlights included the presentations on the IEA Heat Pump Programme, which examined trends and possible future uses of heat pumps in applications, such as smart grids, said the news release.

“I am pleased that the event was a success, which once again shows that the heart of the heat pump beats in Nürnberg. Top-class presentations and a highly international audience prove that the orientation of the European Heat Pump Summit attracts a very good response from the experts,” summed up Richard Krowoza, Member of the Management Board of NürnbergMesse. The participants came from 26 countries, including many EU member states, as well as countries like the USA, South Korea, Lithuania and Russia, Krowoza added.

Dr Rainer Jakobs, Informationszentrum Wärmepumpen + Kältetechnik IZW (Heat Pump and Refrigeration Information Centre), and coordinator of the European Heat Pump Summit, believed that the event had become an established international platform for information exchange between heat pump professionals, and that specialists gained a comprehensive overview of markets, technologies and components.

The recently effective European Union Directive on the introduction of an energy efficiency label for heat generating appliances was lauded by the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) at the evening get-together, where Thomas Nowak, Secretary General of the EPHA, said: “The standard marking of energy efficiency is the right step towards more transparency in the market for heat generating appliances. It enables specialists and consumers to easily compare the performance figures of different heating appliances. We hope that the energy label will stimulate growth in the heat pump market.”

Sharing information that the next European Heat Pump Summit would take place in October 2015, the news release highlighted that the heat pump will also play a special role at Chillventa Rossija, taking place in Moscow from February 4 to 6, 2014, as also at ACREX India in New Delhi, from February 27 to March 1, 2014, and that heat pump specialists would meet again in Nürnberg at Chillventa 2014. This gathering of the international refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump community will take place from October 14 to 16, 2014, and Chillventa Congressing will start on October 13, 2014, it added.
