The agreement worth AED 31.6 million will involve deep-heating, retrofitting of the HVAC and lighting system, among other energy performance measures, says Etihad ESCO CEO
Etihad Energy Services Company (Etihad ESCO) has signed an energy performance agreement worth AED 31.6 million with Dubai Golf, the company said through a Press communiqué.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Al Jassim, CEO of Etihad ESCO, said: “Etihad ESCO is thoroughly committed to supporting the Dubai Government’s sustainability goals and helping private entities to meet the Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030. By signing this agreement, we are marking another milestone, as this is our first energy performance contract in leisure and hospitality sector.
“We are confident that collaborating with Dubai Golf is one of the most important steps towards sustainability in Dubai and the rest of the UAE.”
Sharing details of the agreement, Al Jassim said that the deal would involve deep-heating, retrofitting of the HVAC and lighting system, along with the installation of an on-grid solar PV panel for renewable energy generation.
The initiative, he added, would be completed funded by Etihad ESCO and would reduce carbon emissions by 3,700 tonnes annually, as well as the overall energy consumption by 26.89%. The contract would result in an annual savings of AED 4.42 million for Dubai Golf, which is guaranteed for next eight years.
Christopher May, CEO at Dubai Golf, added: “Adopting sustainability practices remains a key focus for Dubai Golf. This is evidenced by the awarding of GEO Certification to Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. We seek to bring this further by significantly reducing our energy consumption, an objective that we believe can be achieved through our strategic partnership with Etihad ESCO.”
