Dubai, UAE: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced winning two Gold Awards at the 107th IDEA Annual Conference & Tradeshow that was held from June 20 to 23, 2016, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The two awards, ‘Most total number of buildings’ and ‘Most Total Square Footage’ committed to District Cooling services outside North America, were handed out in a special ceremony amidst an international recognition to Empower’s efforts to improve District Cooling services locally and internationally, the announcement added.

The awards, the company said, reflect Empower’s commitment to adopting advanced infrastructure systems and providing world-class cooling services to a variety of areas, in addition to recognising the company’s capabilities to save significant amounts of resources in operational costs, preserving energy and protecting the environment. The awards, the announcement added, are also a global recognition of the company’s role in popularising the use of District Cooling technology, which is considered an environmentally friendly and economical solution for use in residential, as well as commercial buildings, hotels and other facilities.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said that the company has received the gold awards for the 10th consecutive time, with a total of 28 awards from IDEA alone. He further said that the awards recognise the efforts of the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai to ensure a sustainable future. “The company,” he said, “is always motivated to contribute to further development and innovation in its services and it exerts efforts to spread this technology beyond the UAE by being a partner to UNEP initiatives.”

Bin Shafar linked this achievement to Dubai’s and the UAE’s vision, particularly Dubai Plan 2021. Dubai, Bin Shafar added, is a pioneering city as it highlights world-class District Cooling systems, and it deploys latest energy efficiency solutions backed with sound infrastructure.
