Will bring together partners across the supply chain to discuss challenges in sustainable housing
Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC), an independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices in the UAE, has announced it will review solutions for promoting sustainable built environments, at a networking event to be held on April 23 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai.
The event to which corporates and individuals dedicated to sustainable solutions and practices are reportedly invited, is open to both members and non-members of the Council. Those who wish to participate can e-mail their interest to: events@emiratesgbc.org, the organisers said.
Sponsored by Legrand, the event will bring together stakeholders who represent the building supply chain, including developers, consultants and designers, EmiratesGBC added.
According to EmiratesGBC, the networking event will include a panel session on Sustainable Housing, where key representatives from the industry, like Arup, HOK, Daikin McQuay and Woods Bagot, will discuss various aspects of building sustainability, including the regional impact of the building sector on the environment, challenges of urbanisation, building evaluation schemes for international coordination and cost of sustainable housing.
Giving further information about the forthcoming event, Adnan Sharafi, EmiratesGBC Chairman, said: “Developing sustainable housing infrastructure is one of the priorities of developers today, in line with the green vision of the UAE. However, there are several areas to be addressed in this regard, which call for information sharing among the various stakeholders. Through the networking event, we are bringing together partners from across the supply chain, who can all benefit from the learning, and in turn contribute to the further developing the sustainable built environment of the region.”
