Brazilian compressors manufacturer to further invest in innovation

Refrigeration compressors manufacturer Embraco, modernised its brand after 40 years of existence.

According to the company, the renewal reinforces attributes such as innovation, simplicity and the power to change, and reflects the company’s transformation over four decades of activities.

The organisation was created to supply compressors for the Brazilian market, a component previously imported. Today, Embraco is a global company specialised in refrigeration solutions. It employs over 10,000 employees worldwide and markets high technology products in more than 80 countries. Besides the headquarters in Brazil, it has factories in Europe, Asia, and by the end of the year, in Mexico.

Embraco’s president, João Carlos Brega, explained: “As leaders, it is necessary that our brand shows all our capacity to innovate, our technology and our power to change, so that customers, shareholders, employees and the community have a current perception of our organisation”.

“We are developing global thinking and practices”, Brega said. This challenge, in his view, requires qualified people. Therefore the attention is on attracting, retaining and developing talent. The growth plan also includes the expansion of the global production capacity, by upgrading production lines and by continuous investment in technology and innovation, this being its greatest differential in the competitive global market.

Last year, the company invested four per cent of net sales in funding research and development. Approximately 80% of the company’s global sales derive from products launched in the last four years, and in 2010, Embraco surpassed the mark of 1,000 patents granted worldwide. In addition to investing heavily in high-efficiency solutions, it has developed innovative technologies, such as the microcompressor, the size of a magic marker and the first refrigeration compressor that does not require the use of lubricant oil.
