The awards were given in recognition of exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks
October 11, 2017, Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was recently awarded the Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour by the British Safety Council. According to the Council, the awards are in recognition of exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks by businesses around the world.
In all, 57 organisations received the Sword of Honour and 15 the Globe of Honour, though only eleven received both. The Sword of Honour is dedicated to health and safety management excellence, while the Globe of Honour celebrates excellence in environmental management.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the Council, described the winners as ‘the best of the best’ performers in health, safety or environmental management, worldwide. The winners, he said, achieved five stars in the British Safety Council’s independent health and safety and/or environmental management audits, and demonstrated to an independent adjudication panel a proven track record and culture of best practice in health and safety or environmental management.
