Advantix Systems
Advantix Systems, a US-based manufacturer of air conditioning and dehumidification systems for commercial and industrial applications, has introduced dehumidification and cooling units. The product line is reportedly the winner of AHR’s ‘Most Innovative Cooling Product of 2011’ award.
Advantix Systems claims that the dehumidification and cooling units have been made using innovative liquid desiccant technology to simultaneously cool and remove humidity directly from the air, making them energy efficient and environment friendly. Also, the liquid desiccant is a natural disinfectant. The manufacturer explains that the salt solution removes almost all airborne bacteria and microorganisms in a single pass and eliminates the need for drip pans or coils that often produce algae and bacteria build-up. As a result, the technology has the additional benefits of improving air quality and removing odours, it claims.
The manufacturer points out to a problem experienced by those who visit commercial spaces in summer: the wide difference in temperature between the outside air and the cold air inside.
The uncomfortable conditions are caused by the inherent limitations of conventional air conditioners, which need to overcool the air to remove moisture and then re-heat it to a moderate temperature – an extra step that many business owners skip, as it requires additional energy and drives up costs. Advantix dehumidifiers apparently obviate this problem.
The manufacturer lists the following product features and advantages:
According to Advantix Systems, the units are available for large commercial and manufacturing applications, as well as for smaller units to fit compact spaces, including fitness centres, schools and medical environments.
