DUBAI, UAE, 29 August 2019: Daikin Middle East and Africa aims to expand its business across all segments within the HVACR sector, said Tuna Gulenc, Vice President, Sales, Daikin MEA, following the inauguration of the company’s new headquarters in JAFZA, Dubai. Gulenc shared that the company has strong presence in the Middle East in terms of air conditioning products, DX systems and applied systems and that the company is also expanding its refrigeration business drastically. “That’s why in all segments we have a strong product range from 2kW split air conditioners up to 3,000-tonne chillers,” he said.

Gulenc said that the VRV business continues to be the main pillar of growth for the company, adding that the technology has increasingly grown in popularity in the region, garnering stronger interest from stakeholders owing to energy-efficiency benefits, design possibilities and customer satisfaction in relation to aftersales. The VRV market, he added, is steadily growing across the region, and the company aims to reinforce its market leader position by expanding further. Gulenc said that VRV systems has seen significant uptake, especially in the last five years. While the technology has seen strong acceptance in residential and villa projects, he said that there is opportunity and room to grow in the commercial segment, particularly in the hospitality sector.

Gulenc shared that following the acquisition of McQuay, Daikin has become a main player in the applied business, globally and in the region. He added that as part of the company’s vision 2020, the company aims to be number one in Europe and top three in Middle East and Africa. “This is a very important focus for us,” he said. “We have a strong and dedicated organisation for applied business, and we continue to launch new products and increase our sales capabilities in applied business.”

Gulenc emphasised the company is also aiming to take a leadership position in the refrigeration sector, pointing to the acquisition of Italian commercial refrigeration manufacturer, Zanotti and, most recently, the acquisition of AHT Cooling Systems GmbH of Austria, a European manufacturer of refrigerated display cases. Together, he said, this makes the company a very important player in the refrigeration business, globally.
