Steve Schmerber, Director of Field Application Engineering, CommScope, to address attendees, organisers say
Washington, D.C., USA, 13 January 2019: The sixth annual CxEnergy Conference & Expo will begin with a look into the future, the organisers announced in a Press communiqué. The advent of 5G-enabled technologies will vastly disrupt many industries and CxEnergy has invited Steve Schmerber, Director of Field Application Engineering, CommScope, to speak at the Opening Plenary session, about how it may impact the professions of energy management and commissioning, the communiqué said. CxEnergy 2019 will be held from April 15 to 18, 2019, at the Caribe Royale Hotel, in Orlando, Florida, USA, the communiqué further said.
5G is the fifth-generation of cellular mobile communications, the communiqué said. It will enable exponentially higher data transmission rates, advance efficiency and allow for massive device connectivity, the communiqué further said. Schmerber is an expert in the field and will discuss 5G’s implications for topics ranging from the Internet of Things (IoT), data centers and data analytics, the communiqué added.
The 5G presentation is one of many examples of education and training opportunities provided by CxEnergy, the communiqué said. Attendees will earn AIA and other industry certification continuing education credits for presentations that include case studies and topics in building envelop/enclosure commissioning, technology and innovation, energy management, commissioning specialty systems, policy and financial issues, lighting, water management, data centres, microgrids, energy storage, demand response programmes, infrared technology and more, the communiqué further said. There will be more than 30 speakers, who are well-known industry experts across all building science disciplines, the communiqué added. The expo hall showcases a wide variety of products, including controls, software, instruments, metering devices and services targeted specifically to commissioning, energy management, engineering and testing firms, the communiqué said.
CxEnergy offers pre-conference certification workshops and seminars for Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Energy Management Professional (EMP), plus a seminar devoted to testing and balancing topics, the communiqué further said. The event also features several networking events that connect commissioning providers, energy managers, MEP engineers, lighting and control technologists and HVAC testing professionals with manufacturers and energy services providers, the communiqué added.
The communiqué said, CxEnergy is presented by the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) and Energy Management Association (EMA). The communiqué further said that supporting organisations include The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA), the USGBC Florida Chapter and The Clean Energy Business Network (CEBN).
