Dubai, UAE: Despite the growing demand for chillers in the Middle East, Magdy Mekky, CEO at GAMI, lists a few challenges that the industry faces:
- As initial costs are high, market acceptance is comparatively low despite the costs for running high-efficiency chillers being less.
- As climatic conditions in the Middle East region are harsh, especially in the summer, chillers must function up to 52 degrees C at full load and up to 55 degrees C at reduced capacity.
- Connecting building management systems (BMS) with chillers remains a challenge.
- Noise and vibration from chillers are yet to be addressed.
